BIOGRAPHY

The mezzosoprano KAROLINA GUMOS is member of a soloist ensemble at the Komische Oper Berlin where her roles included titelrole in „Carmen“, titelrole in Strauss´s „Der Rosenkavalier", Prince Charmant in „Cendrillon“ from Massenet, Donna Elvira in „Don Giovanni“, the Fox in „Cunning little Vixen“, the foreign Princess in „Rusalka“, Idamante in „Idomeneo“, Rosina in „The Barber of Seville", Dorabella in Mozarts „Cosi fan tutte" and many others.

Karolina Gumos was born in Gdynia (Poland). She studied the violin before turning to singing. After her Recital Diploma at the Poznan Music College with Professor Wojciech Maciejowski she continued masterstudy with Professor Anneliese Fried at the Hanns Eisler Music College in Berlin. 

She is singing frequently concerts with Mahler „Songs of Wayfarer“ and „The Song of the Earth“, Verdi „Requiem“, Oratorys by Bach, Händel, Mass by Mozart, Dvorak and Rossini by exemple in Berlin Philharmony, Konzerthaus Berlin, Dortmund Philharmony, Statthalle Kassel, Cuvillier Theater Munich.

Karolina Gumos attended masterclasses and took part in numerous radio and television broadcasts with ARTE and the ZDF in Germany and Polish Radio 1. She has been invited to festivals such as „Edinburgh Festival“, "Ruhrtriennale", „Adelaide Festival“, „Mostly Mozart Festival New York“, „Münchener Opernfestspiele“, Händel-Festspiele“, „Enescu Festival“,  „Vratislavia Cantans", and the „Lutoslawski Festival“.

She has been a prizewinner in the international Ada Sari Singing Competition. 

Karolina Gumos was a member of a soloist ensemble at the Dortmund Opera and the State Theater Braunschweig. Here she was singing such roles as Fenena „Nabucco“, Cherubino „Figaro“, Nicklausse / La Muse „Contes d´ Hoffmann“, Ottavia „L´incorinazione di Poppea“, Sextus „La Clemenza di Tito“ and the title role in the first performance in Germany of Philippe Boesmans´ „Julie".

She has performed with such conductors as Vladimir Jurowski, Peter Schneider, Peter Gülke, Friedermann Layer, Sebastian Weigle, Stefan Soltesz, Michael Boder, Michael Hofstetter, Ion Marin, Alexander Vedernikov and she has also worked with opera producers as Willy Decker, Barrie Kosky, Stefan Herheim, Heiner Goebbels, Hans Neuenfels, Damiano Micheletto, Marco Arturo Marelli, Christine Mielitz, und Sebastian Baumgarten.

She has guest contracts with the Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Semperoper Dresden, the Hamburg State Opera , the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Opernhaus Frankfurt am Main and performed in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Nederland, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Romania, Scottland, Norway, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Macao, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
